Mapping Own Body | Groupmap
Individual body map based on personal expression, verbal verdicts of others and body language.
Body Map (Samantha)
(meant to re-write this more formally, but gut-feeling responses seem more interesting)
there is something about mapping my own body, especially with words (which makes it very unambiguous) that feels very invasive, even though I don't mind being descriptive in conversation

I don't want to "death of the author" my own body
I find that I'm strangely more comfortable publishing things I wrote only for myself or someone specific, than intentionally writing things meant for everyone

Midterm Map
Defining a word can be seen as challenging, because people have different views of what a word is. Language tells a lot about the way of life, the social interaction with others and in what ways they are developed as a culture. We are about to explore the different facets or events in language, from code switching to generation friction, to body language and (facial) expressions.

Our map focuses on a small part of language - how we feel about the words we use, how we feel about the words being used around us, and how we have deliberately altered the language we use over the course of our lives. More specifically, we focused on lavender (LGBTQ) language as well as gendered language. This started as a way for us as collaborators to understand each other better despite our vastly different experiences - one of us being someone who never put much thought into this at all, the other having spent years doing just that. We then asked some of the people in our lives, all with different backgrounds too, to fill out the same questions.

This is a work in progress, but in future iterations we want to analyze the answers more closely and look for connections between answers and people and make this the focus of our map.
